The Duke of Edinburgh was discharged from hospital in Aberdeen yesterday following treatment for a bladder infection. He appeared in good spirits as he left Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he has spent the past five nights, and rejoined the rest of the royal family on holiday in Scotland.
The duke (91) joked with senior hospital managers, who had gathered to say goodbye, telling them to behave themselves. Prince Philip, who is famed for not wanting a fuss made about himself, was praised by senior staff nurse Denise Webster.
"The duke was a very good patient and, as he left the hospital, he told staff to behave themselves and he said he was going back to enjoy the rest of his holiday," she said.
