A Dundalk man was charged at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday with having a pistol and ammunition in the town last year.

Mr Joseph Davison (24), of Boyle O'Reilly Terrace, Dundalk, was remanded on bail of £11,000 until May 6th.

Mr Davison was charged with the unlawful possession of a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine and 13 rounds of ammunition at Aisling Park, Cox's Demesne, Dundalk, on September 13th, 1996.

The court heard that Mr Davison was arrested in Dundalk yesterday morning by Det Garda Brian Mohan.

Mr Davison's counsel, Mr Ross Maguire BL, applied for bail and told the court that his client had cooperated with the gardai and had turned up to be arrested.

Mr Davison was freed on his own bail of £1,000 and an independent surety of £10,000 which was put up by his uncle, Mr Joseph Mulholland. He was ordered to report every Saturday to gardai at Dundalk.
