British budget airline easyJet said passenger traffic in September rose 25 per cent from a year ago to 2.36 million after adding new routes to its short-haul network.
EasyJet also said its load factor - an indication of how many seats it has filled on flights - was 86.9 per cent, from 85.9 per cent a year ago.
"September was a solid month reflected by a one percentage point increase in the load factor," chief executive Mr Ray Webster said in a statement today.
The airline stuck with its guidance for year earnings, saying pre-tax profit was expected to exceed £60 million, at least 16 per cent higher than last year.
EasyJet shares, which have more than halved in value so far this year, hit an all-time low earlier this month after the company warned fares would remain under pressure next year.
At the time, it upped its earnings guidance and wound back plans to expand its fleet. Analysts say the airline faces a grim winter and ongoing pressure from soaring oil prices.
EasyJet shares closed yesterday at 126-1/4 pence.
