Ecstasy tablets worth an estimated €3 million were seized in a house in Co Cavan at the weekend in one of a series of drugs raids by gardaí.
Members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation discovered the tablets in a house near Mullahoran during a follow-up search to the arrest of a man in his 40s in Palmerstown, Dublin, shortly before 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The man was travelling in a car which was found to contain two kilos of cocaine and a quantity of ecstasy, with an estimated street value of €650,000. He is due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning.
Also on Saturday, gardaí in Tallaght, Dublin, seized cannabis resin, cocaine and ecstasy with an estimated street value of €10,000 in two separate cases.
Gardaí on routine patrol stopped and searched a car, arresting the 24-year-old male driver when he was found to be in possession of cannabis resin. A follow up search at a house in Tallaght led to the discovery of a further quantity of the drug as well as cocaine.
In a separate search, also at about 9 p.m., a 20-year-old male motorcyclist was found to be in possession of 80 ecstasy tablets.
A file is being prepared for the DPP on both cases.
In Waterford, gardaí yesterday released a 24-year-old man from custody following his arrest at St John's Park on Saturday night for possession of 300 ecstasy tablets.
A file is being prepared for the DPP.
Files are also being prepared on two people - a 38-year-old woman and a man in his 30s - following their arrest on Saturday night in Banduff, Co Cork where cocaine with an estimated street value of €60,000 was found in a house.
