Reading groups and book clubs give those who enjoy literary pursuits the opportunity to discuss their interest with like-minded individuals. Such groups cater for all ages and tastes, but Age and Opportunity is putting a lot of effort into building up a network of reading groups aimed specifically at older readers. A number of groups are already up and running and branch libraries are proving to be a valuable link in the chain. There are existing groups attached to the Cork City Library and to Raheny Library in Dublin. If you are interested, check with your local library to see if they have a group. A guide to setting up a senior book club will be available from Age and Opportunity later this year. The organisation can be contacted on (01) 8057709.
