Hidden talents at school? Lying low at question times.
Where did you go to college? College of Commerce Rathmines (now DIT Aungier Street), to study advertising. My preference was journalism, but insufficient points steered me towards advertising and PR.
Best subject? Either English or Latin. Shakespeare's plays were a joy but the task of remembering poetry was a chore. Despite its many critics, Latin provides a wonderful appreciation of the English language and the importance of syntax.
Worst subject? Chemistry.
Most inspirational teacher and why? Jim McNally, a master tutor in Latin.
What's your best memory of school? Amusing, spontaneous incidents involving teachers and classmates.
