Flying the flag for a united Korea

Korean visual arts students have been helping to promote unity between North and South Korea

Korean visual arts students have been helping to promote unity between North and South Korea. They have mounted a display of 49 colourful flag designs at the University of Sungkyunkwan which they hope could be used as a new symbol for a unified Korea. The Korean Peninsula flag was carried at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics by both North and South Korean athletes. This flag has been used occasionally before to represent both countries. However experts suggest that a new flag would be necessary for a unified Korea. Professor Baik Kum-nam, organiser of the exhibition said he hoped the flags would inspire the public and delegates to the official North and South Korea talks.
