When I first came to Euristix I was slotted into a team producing software according to a plan. I'm now working on my second project and this time I've been involved in designing the software plan rather than simply working on someone else's plan. You get to use your own imagination to solve problems that you can forsee.

Three of us worked on the plan which describes how we're going to do things, highlights the problems we anticipate and how we will overcome them. The plan is then broken down into separate tasks and each member of the team is assigned a set of tasks. At the end of the day all our tasks have to be joined to produce the final solution, so you have to know what every one else is doing.

The work is very challenging. You're constantly coming up against problems, but working in a team means that you can discuss them with your colleagues. I often work late - not because I have to - but because the work is so absorbing.

I've been interested in computers from an early age. I graduated in computer systems from UL in 1994. I stayed on to do a masters and then came straight in here a year ago.
