Cian O'Connor, Showjumper, Olympic gold medallist
What schools did you go to? Christian Brothers, Naas, Belvedere College
Best subject? Maths
Worst subject? Art
What's the boldest thing you ever did in school? Once, during detention, I borrowed a fellow pupil's mobile phone, telephoned the secretary at the front desk, pretending to be the headmaster, and asked her to go across the road and buy some sausages and chips for Cian O'Connor. She fell for it, and the food was duly delivered!
Who was your favourite teacher and why?
Michael McCarthy, Christian Brothers, Naas, during my third and fourth year. He had the class interested in everything, from raising money for cancer research to gardening, and even cooking. I learned a lot from him, about a lot of topics.
Who was the object of your first crush? Myself
What was your earliest career ambition? To become a lawyer.
Were you cool or nerdy at school? Cool, verging on rebellious.
Did you go to college? Not yet!
What song most reminds you of your school days? Can't think of one.
What would you look for when choosing a school for your own children? I still think of myself as a child. Having children of my own seems an awfully long way away. So I really haven't given the matter of schools any consideration at all.
Were your school days the best days of your life? No, these days are.
