www.bobdylan.com

From one of the greatest songwriters of all time comes one of the best music sites on the Internet. The best part is the "Search the lyrics" section. Putting in "Christmas", for instance, leads to the lyrics and album details for all five Bob Dylan songs that contain that word. Every song Dylan has released is contained in this brilliant search engine. There is also an A-Y of his songs - Bob has not yet recorded a song beginning with Z. There are also liner notes and listening samples for all his albums. A fantastic resource.

www.beatles.com

Launched in tandem with the album compiling all of their number-1 singles, the site has information on the recording, release and promotion of all 27 songs. There are also dozens of pictures of the group from their early, moptop days right through to the long hair and beards before they broke up. It's all very comprehensive and full of information, but there's something lacking. It feels cold and corporate and designed purely to sell more copies of the album. The Beatles' legacy deserves a better Internet presence.

www.radiohead.com

To some people Radiohead are the greatest thing since, well, the Beatles. To others they make some of the most overrated music ever. Whatever about their music, they do seem to care for something other than the bottom line. It may be very old-fashioned now, but Radiohead seem to have integrity. Whether it's the tour diary, an anti-mobile phone mast campaign, a treatise on the US presidential election or all the links to digging the dirt on transnational corporations, Radiohead really do seem to give a damn.

www.davidbowie.com

Bowie was enthusing about the Internet before most other rock and pop stars knew what it was, but 'twas ever thus with the chameleon famed for borrowing others' artistic endeavours and making them his own. Having very clever and moneyed backers has led to a very comprehensive site. It even has with its own bank, bowiebanc.com. Once a rebel-rebel, he now offers his name to those who offer loans, debit cards and savings accounts. The most interesting musical aspects of the site cost $5.95 per month.

www.westlife.co.uk

How quickly they forget. When last checked Westlife's site held out the invitation to "Choose your country of departure" by clicking on a flag. There are flags from Spain, Italy, Holland, UK, Germany and France. But no Irish flag. And we knew them when they hadn't a bean. Tut, tut! There's a competition to meet the lads where all you have to do to enter is pick your four favourite Westlife songs (and with so many, er, classics to choose from, that's got to be a difficult task). Not my thing, but maybe it's yours.
