The National Print Museum is housed in Beggar's Bush, Dublin, in what was once a soldier's chapel. Built in 1860, the garrison chapel now houses a collection of implements, artefacts and machines from all sectors of the printing industry in Ireland. The museum caters for educational tours as well as providing an archive and study facilities for those engaging in research.

The Garda Si≤chβna museum, located in Dublin Castle, contains a vast amount of archival and artefacual material, relating not only to the Garda Si≤chβna, but also to the Irish Constabulary, the Royal Irish Constabulary, The Dublin Police and the Dublin Metropolitan Police. Photographs and documents outline the history of policing in Ireland in the 19th and 20th century.

Medieval Art

The Hunt collection is a personal one, amassed by John and Gertrude Hunt. Selected objects, such as a bronze shield, a cast iron tiara, a reliquary cross and a panel of God the Father, can be viewed online. The museum's collection of European decorative art, fine art and archaeology is recognised as one of the finest private medieval art collections made this century. The Hunt Museum at Plassey, Limerick, was opened in 1978.

The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is housed in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin, in what is reputed to be the finest 17th-century building in Ireland. The website has information on exhibitions, collections, education and community programmes, and artists' work programmes. Website is slightly out of date, stating that the new galleries, "will re-open in May 2001".

Ulster Museum

With nearly 6,000 square metres of galleries and large collections of art, history and natural sciences, the Ulster Museum would repay a visit in person. Located at the Botanic Gardens, Belfast, the museum is open all year except for 24th to 27th December, 2002, and January 1st 2002. The website includes information on upcoming events, lectures, and master classes.
