If you fancy extending yourself this autumn and culture's your thing, why not check out UCD's latest adult education programme? You could, for example, take a 10week course in 20th Century Irish Art or An Introduction to Irish Art , during the autumn or spring. Or, on the other hand, you could embark on a tour of Western European Architecture : From Brunelleschi to Bauhaus - and examine the evolution of architecture from the early Renaissance to the mid-20th century. This course takes place over two modules during autumn and spring.

Closer to home you could take a course on Art and Architecture in 19th Century Dublin in the autumn and follow it with Art and Architecture in 18th Century Dublin in the spring.

Most of us - even if we have only a limited knowledge of art - admire the impressionist painters. At auction, paintings by artists such as Monet and Renoir command huge prices. Painting with Light - The Triumph of Impressionism examines the lives of the artists and their methods of painting.

Meanwhile, if you have an interest in the 18th century why not put a microscope to Georgian Dublin? During the autumn term only, a course entitled Georgian Dublin : The Gilded Facade examines the cultural, political and social life of the city at that time. Among the topics covered are artistic patronage, craftsmanship, class division and patriotism. Following on from this course in spring - a 10-week module, Georgian Ireland : Cottage and Country House, explores the realities of country life in Ireland during this period.
