Closer links between an all-Irish school and an all-Welsh school were forged recently with An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern giving his imprimatur to the initiative.

Scoil Chaitriona in Glasnevin, Dublin, hosted the visit, welcoming the Taoiseach as well as students from Ysgol Dyffryn school, in Bethesda, Wales.

The initial establishment of the link was through the Internet. The project is part of an Inter-Reg cross cultural initiative of the EU to promote minority languages.

The Transition Year students of Scoil Chaitriona have already made the trip across to Bethesda.
