Junior Certificate Materials Technology:Yesterday's papers covered the expected topics of wood seasoning, veneering, carving and design. Students were satisfied with the presentation of the paper, which counts for one third of their overall mark.

Students completed a practical project earlier in the year.

"Today's theory paper was very straightforward and there was plenty in it for all students," said Pat Conway, a teacher at Bishopstown Community School in Cork.

Teacher Noel Scott of Loreto Community School in Milford, Co Donegal, agreed that both papers were very student-friendly, with few surprises.
