Some 27 cheeses made in Ireland have been shortlisted for this year’s British Cheese Awards which will be announced in Cardiff on September 21st.

They are all guaranteed a medal but could also win awards in the competition.

The 27 products are made by 18 shortlisted cheesemakers in the Republic and the North, who are: Aillwee Cave; Ardrahan Cheese Co; Ardsallagh Goats Products; Bluebell Falls Goats Cheese; Cahill Farm Cheese; Carrigbyrne Cheese; Coolattin Cheddar; Coolea Farmhouse Cheese; Cooleeney Farmhouse Cheese; Durrus Farmhouse Cheese; Fermoy Natural Cheese Co; Fivemiletown Creamery; Gubbeen Cheese; Kearney Cheese Co; Killeen Farmhouse Cheese; Knockdrinna Farmhouse Cheese; Milleens Cheese Ltd; Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese. Meanwhile, Dairygold Food Ingredients UK was nominated for its lactose-free soft cheeses.
