Eircom league chairman steps down

Declan O Luanaigh has resigned as chairman of the eircom League, a league spokesperson today announced.

The resignation took effect yesterday, November 4th.  As a result, O Luanaigh will also no longer sit on the Board of Management of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).

A meeting of the Eircom League's management committee, scheduled for November 30th, will likely be moved forward to discuss the issue and possibly appoint an acting chairperson, the spokesperson told ireland.com.

O Luanaigh's resignation came one day after Fran Rooney announced he would resign his position as Chief Executive Officer of the FAI.  Rooney's resignation took effect today.
