The Chinese Embassy has today expressed it's 'deep condolences' to the families of two Chinese students who were murdered in Dublin on March 14th.

In a statement issued the Embassy expressed it's "sincere thanks to the Garda Siochána and to the Irish public" for their "great concern and sympathy, help and cooperation".

The bodies of Ms Liu Quing and her friend, Ms Yue Feng, were discovered in their burnt-out apartment at Blackhall Square off North King Street.

It appears the two murder victims, both aged 19, were strangled before the apartment was set on fire.

Five members of the families of the two victims arrived in Ireland on Friday to identify their bodies.

A Chinese man, aged 23, has been charged by gardaí. He was remanded in custody for a week by Dublin District Court.

Det Supt Gordon confirmed the gardaí were being assisted by a police officer from China who arrived in Ireland within days of the murder to assist in the investigation.
