LONDON - Small businesses in Britain fear that European Monetary Union (EMU) would harm their prospects, according to a report published today.
The firms are worried that close integration would mean consumers having to pay more for goods, according to a survey or small and medium sized businesses.
They are also concerned about the effect on interest rates, higher wages, red tape and higher corporate taxes and the number of people they employ. The survey, by information group, CCN, found the number of businesses that think they would be able to employ more people as a result of joining a single currency outnumbered two to one those who did not.
