Hundreds of English football hooligans have been banned from leaving the UK for tomorrow's World Cup qualifying clash against Greece.

The British government sent letters ordering known hooligans to hand in their passports at local police stations.

More than 450 hooligans have now been banned from travelling to Athens under the Football Disorder Act 2000.

The move comes in a bid to stop trouble sparking in Greece in a mirror of violent clashes involving England fans in Brussels during Euro 2000 and Marseilles during France '98.

The orders became active from last Friday.

The NCIS's Football Intelligence Service has been working in tandem with their Greek counterparts.
