The European Commission has postponed its general orientation debate over its future tax strategy to January 31st, a commission spokesman said.
"The commissioners ran out of time, after having spent most of the morning discussing the Irish budgetary stance and financing of political parties," he said.
The Financial Timesthis morning reported that the commission is likely to back down from its tax harmonisation goal and instead focus on the practical problems encountered by EU citizens and businesses within the single market.
