European stocks rallied today on the heels of Wall Street as investors hoped for an end to uncertainty in the Iraq crisis.
The DJ Euro Stoxx 50 index of leading euro-zone shares climbed percent to 2,141.4 points.
The British FTSE 100 index gained 2.6 per cent to 3,694.8 points, the German DAX 30 index won 4.1 per cent to 2,502.4 points and the French CAC 40 index rose 2.9 per cent to 2,819.8 points.
European stocks climbed in step with markets in New York after the United States, Britain and Spain dramatically withdrew their draft resolution seeking UN support for war on Iraq.
