A former RUC man who has been living in the Republic for a number of years has asked the High Court for orders preventing his extradition to Britain. He is wanted by police in London in connection with the alleged possession of heroin and its supply, for £650,000, to another person.

Mr Matthew (Matt) Henry Armstrong (60), a native of Co Fermanagh, with an address in Dublin, said he was arrested in Bray, Co Wicklow, in May, 1995, under a warrant which alleged he was in possession of heroin in 1992, with intent to supply. He is challenging a decision of the District Court of September 24th, 1998 ordering his extradition.

The case before Mr Justice ╙ Caoimh continues today.
