The Chief Executive of one of the UK's largest examination boards, Edexcel, Dr Christina Townsend, has resigned over a number of errors in the marking of exam papers.

Several Northern schools in Counties Derry, Fermanagh, Down and Armagh, were affected by the marking blunder which led to a number of pupils having to be upgraded from an E to an A grade.
