Racing: This afternoon's race meeting at Exeter goes ahead after the track passed a second inspection.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson was forced to take another look 9am after his initial check 7.30am proved inconclusive.

He said: "We are going to go for it. The sun is up, it's a degree above freezing and it's starting to thaw.

"We are racing but we will miss out the four chase fences in the back straight. They are frozen and will not thaw because of the trees down there which block the sun."

The going at Exeter is described as good to soft.
