Explosion at LA airport follows security alert

There has been an explosion at Los Angeles International Airport.

There has been an explosion at Los Angeles International Airport.

It came shortly after the airport was closed because of what security officials said was a "security breach"; and a separate incident at an international terminal security
screening station.

Further details were not made available but it is understood three terminals at Tom Bradley International have been closed.

The Fire department says a torch exploded in an X-ray machine. CNN is reporting that corroded batteries in the torch had exploded injuring seven people.

An airport spokesman said the terminals were closed after two incidents raised security concerns.

Police and bomb squad officers were called in after reports that a suspicious
person was seen in one of the busy airport's terminals.
