Athletics:Ireland's Martin Fagan warmed up for the ING New York City Marathon in three weeks' time with a victory in the Boston Athletic Association Half-Marathon.
The Irish Olympian and national half-marathon record-holder won a duel with Kenya's Philemon Terer, completing the 13.1-mile course around the streets of Boston and Brookline in Massachusetts in one hour two minutes and 21 seconds. Terer finished three seconds adrift, with American Jeff Eggleston (1:04.16) back in third.
Fagan now heads to New York where he will compete on November 1st.
Ethiopia's Belainesh Gebre (1:11:07) won the women's race in Boston ahead of Jilliah Tingea of Kenya (1:11.43) and Poland's Karolina Jarzynska (1:11.50) third.
