A couple and their two six-year old boys narrowly escaped injury following a pipe bomb attack on their house in Belfast last night.

It is understood the device detonated at the front of their Glenpark Court in North Belfast.

The PSNI said the device was pushed through the family's letter box and the blast caused damage to the front of the house and to the hallway.

Meanwhile, a taxi driver was shot at as he went to pick up a fare in southBelfast.

The attack happened at the junction of Egmont Gardens and Utility Walk in theDonegall Road area.

Police said a masked gunman approached the driver and fired two shots, hittingthe front door.
