Seven members of the same family have escaped from a fire in their house on the Aran Islands today.
The fire broke out in the kitchen of their home on the island of Inishmaan at around 6.30 a.m this morning.
The father and four children were brought to the mainland by the Rós a Mhil lifeboat and transferred by ambulance to University College Hospital in Galway.
The mother and another child were flown by plane to the mainland. All are being treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
