A man who raped his daughter and falsely imprisoned her and his wife has been remanded in custody for sentence on July 7th next by the Central Criminal Court.

The 38-year-old Dubliner pleaded guilty to three charges of raping his daughter at their home. He also admitted two charges of falsely imprisoning his wife, one of falsely imprisoning his daughter, and four further charges of causing them serious harm.

The offences occurred on dates between November 1997 and January 1999. The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to the 10 charges after a jury had been sworn in for his trial. He had initially pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape and false imprisonment.

Mr Bruce Antoniotti SC (with Mr Fergal Foley) said the guilty pleas were accepted on the basis that the court would hear evidence of the facts relating to all 52 charges on the indictment.
