The father of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former president, Mrs Mary Robinson, has died aged 87.
Dr Aubrey de Vere Bourke was a GP in Ballina, Co Mayo. He is survived by his daughter and three sons, Oliver, Henry and Adrian. A fourth son, Aubrey, died some years ago.
Dr Bourke died on Monday at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar. The removal is today at 6.30 p.m. at Castlehill House, Ballina, to St Muredach's Cathedral, arriving at 7.30 p.m. Requiem Mass begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. with funeral afterwards to Leigue cemetery.
