London - The father of British aid worker Sally Becker, jailed for trying to smuggle refugees from Kosovo into Albania, headed for the Serbian province yesterday to try to persuade her to call off her hunger strike.

Becker (37) collapsed on Monday, five days into her hunger strike, but was revived with an intravenous drip.

The freelance aid worker was sentenced to 30 days' jail in Kosovo after being caught trying to smuggle ethnic Albanian refugees across the Yugoslav border into Albania. Her father, Mr Jack Becker, said he wanted her to change her mind about refusing food.
