Wimbledon: Defending champion Roger Federer and this year's French Open winner Ana Ivanovic have been named the respective top seeds for this year's Wimbledon championship which gets under way on Monday.

Federer is chasing a sixth straight title at the All-England Club, while Serbia's Ivanovic was given the top seed by virtue of her new number one ranking in the world.

Raphael Nadal, who destroyed Federer in straight sets in the French Open final, is seeded number two in the men's draw.  The Spaniard has been a beaten finalist for the last two years at Wimbledon and was winner of the Artois Championships on Sunday. Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic from Serbia is third seed.

Andy Murray is seeded 12th, a drop of four places from last year when the Scot had to withdraw with a wrist injury.

Ivanovic's compatriot Jelena Jankovic is second seed in the women's draw with former champion Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova third and fourth respectively. Serena Williams is seeded sixth with sister Venus seventh.

The men's seedings are based on the current world rankings, but are adjusted to take into account grass court performances in the last two years. The women's seedings are directly taken from the world rankings.
