Final-year fashion and textile students from NCAD presented their degree collections at the weekend in TCD's Dining Hall with shows sponsored for the seventh year running by Peter Mark.
The event also showcased the third year's mini-degree collections and work from second-year knitwear students.
Brazilian streetwear and nostalgic childhood memories were among the sources of inspiration for the 14 fashion graduates. High waists were a recurring feature, as in Arlene Hopkins beautifully detailed and subtly coloured dresses and Ann-Marie Rigney's elaborate, origami-style folded jackets.
Vibrant colour marked Aisling Owen's all red collection of empire line chiffon dresses, while Eileen Tyrrell's painterly eye and outstanding colour sense kept her sunny stripes, polka dots and patterns in firm check.
Elsewhere Yu Wang drew on her Chinese roots using quilting and concertina pleating in innovative ways, while Elaine Murray's deep pile skirts showed strong textile strength. Susan Butler's jersey hoodies and Rachel Herr's raindrop stretch prints brought sporty touches, while Amy Kate McLoughlin's parachute dresses provided a billowing finale.
The collections go on exhibition at NCAD from June 9th-17th .
