Ferry sailings on many routes have been cancelled today due to high winds and severe weather conditions.
Both Stena and Irish Ferries will provide up-to-date information on sailings throughout the day.
Irish Ferries said all its Swift services from Dublin to Holyhead had been cancelled and were expected to resume tomorrow. The cruise sailing to Holyhead will, however, operate this evening.
Stena cancelled services from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead and has not yet announced whether this evening's scheduled ferry will go ahead. The 9 a.m. Rosslare to Fishguard ferry was cancelled this morning, as was the 2.30 p.m. sailing on the return journey.
The next scheduled departure is at 9.50 p.m. and travelling passengers are urged to check in at least one hour before that time.
Met Éireann has warned there will be gusts of up to 60 miles per hour in places throughout the day. This will make driving conditions difficult.
A spokesman for Met Éireann said, however, the winds in many parts of the country today would not be as strong as they had been last night. Parts of Ulster and north Leinster may not be hit as badly as other areas today, he added.
A lot of cloudy, wet weather is building up in the south west and the trend through this evening and tonight will be for lighter winds and brighter, clearer weather.
AA Roadwatch warned motorists to watch out for fallen debris on back roads and to take particular care on open roads, especially if driving a high-sided vehicle. Motorists should also be extra careful when passing cyclists.
There were minor delays to some flights at Dublin airport today, but no major problems were reported at either Cork or Shannon.
In rail travel, there will be bus transfers on trains between Rosslare Europort and Enniscorthy from November 17th to 20th.
There will be no weekend DART or commuter services south of Pearse Station. Normal services will operate from Monday to Friday from December 1st to 23rd.
Clondalkin main street in Dublin is closed for approximately three weeks for roadworks. Diversions are in place for the 51, 51B , 51X, 68, 69, 76, 76A, 76B & 210 Dublin Bus routes. Delays are likely for traffic and commuters until approx mid to end of November.
In Dublin, roadworks will take place on the 'on' and 'off' ramps inbound on the N11 at Belfield tomorrow and Sunday, weather permitting Motorists are advised to use alternative entrances to UCD's Belfield campus until Sunday night.
Roadworks are also underway on the main road into Lusk village from Blake's Cross. These will continue until at least November 17th and temporary traffic lights are in place.
The new Wyatville bridge over the N11 in Dublin is now open to traffic. Northbound traffic on the N11 from Dun Laoghaire should use the left-hand slip road to cross the bridge.
In Cork, the Lower Glanmire Road inbound is closed until Thursday December 4th at least.
Roadworks are also in place at the viaduct dual carriageway on the N71 (Cork to Bandon road). The works will be in place until Christmas and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or to use alternative routes.
In Galway, roadworks continue on the N6 dual carriageway from the Western Motors roundabout to Doughiska roundabout. Traffic is reduced to one lane.
Roadworks are in place until the end of November on the Killure airport road at the borough boundary in Waterford. Work is also continuing on the construction of a new roundabout on the N25 at Abbeyside, Dungarvan.
