Mahon tribunal: Fianna Fáil TD GV Wright is to make a fresh statement to the Mahon tribunal after failing to provide it with details of contributions he received from a Dublin developer.
Mr Wright promised yesterday to file a supplemental statement detailing the donations he got from developer Robert White.
Tribunal lawyers first asked him for the information in 2003, but up to yesterday it had not received details. The tribunal is currently investigating a claim by lobbyist Frank Dunlop that he bribed the late councillor Cyril Gallagher to support the building of houses in Swords on which Mr White had an option.
Mr Dunlop originally alleged that he also made a payment to Mr Wright but subsequently withdrew this claim.
Yesterday Mr Wright said he thought Mr White first supported him at a fundraising lunch in 2001 but he wasn't sure.
When requested to give information about further contributions, his solicitor Martin Kennedy said his client hadn't been asked for this information. However, Pat Quinn SC, for the tribunal, said this wasn't the case.
In May 2003, the inquiry had written seeking this information. Mr Wright said he hadn't understood fundraising lunches or golf classics were covered by the tribunal's request. He would not have records, but he might still be able to provide information.
