Ogra Fianna Fail has suggested a weighted points system to replace the current method of allocating third level places to school leavers. The system would take account of students' aptitudes and interest in particular subjects in calculating their points totals. For example, a student aiming to study history at third level would receive extra marks for grades scored in that and related subjects.
