The nominees to the Irish Financial Services Appeals Tribunal which will hear appeals against decisions of the Financial Regulator were revealed today.

In a statement the Minister for Finance Brian Cowen said: "The establishment of the Financial Services Appeals Tribunal is an important further step in ensuring the integrity of the regulatory regime for financial service providers in this country."

The Appeals Tribunal will be established under the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland Act 2003.

The nominations include: former Supreme Court Judge Mr Justice Francis D Murphy, UCD chairperson and SC Ms Inge Clissmann, Ombudsman for the Defence Forces and SC Ms Paulyn Marrinan-Quinn SC.

Also nominated were solicitor and former Law Society president Geraldine Clarke, solicitor Council of the Law Society of Ireland member John Fish, Liam Madden an accountant and former head of business banking at Bank of Ireland and John Loughrey former secretary general at the Department of Energy.
