Fire breaks out at Dublin hotel

Six units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called out to a fire at a Ballsbridge hotel this morning.

The alarm was raised at about 7am after a fire broke out on the seventh floor of the D4 Berkeley Hotel.

The building was evacuated and the blaze was brought under control.

Two people were treated in hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

A hotel spokeswoman said the fire was minor and caused by an electrical fault.

She said one guest and one staff member were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. “Both have now been discharged and have returned to the hotel,” she added.

She said no bookings are affected. “It is business as usual.”
