First lunar eclipse in five years tonight

A red moon will rise this evening as Ireland experiences its first lunar eclipse for five years.

A red moon will rise this evening as Ireland experiences its first lunar eclipse for five years.

The moon will rise eclipsed and totality will occur at 10.05pm. The eclipse will last about an hour.

Astronomy Ireland is holding a number of events across the country.
