A judge has given a solicitor and her husband five months to save their home.
The acting Circuit Court President, Judge Gerard Buchanan, told Ms Gabrielle (Wolfe) McGrattan and her husband, John, of Elm Mount, Stillorgan Grove, Stillorgan, Dublin, that unless arrears of almost £27,000 had been paid off by December 2nd, he would allow the Irish Permanent Building Society possession of their £140,000 home.
He said that while substantial amounts had been paid, he had to take into account that undertakings given to the building society were broken.
Mr Don Seligman, counsel for the building society, said promises made about tackling the arrears debt had turned out to be pie in the sky.
Judge Buchanan said possession would follow default in maintaining monthly repayments and the discharge of arrears.
