A man who has been charged with more than 600 robberies has been jailed for five years by Judge Frank O'Donnell at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Daniel Maher (21), St Ronan's Park, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to three charges of robbery in September and October 1997. Sgt Fergal Foley said Maher had previously been charged with 500-600 additional robberies.

He robbed the Esso Parkway Service Station at Palmerstown on September 21st, 1997, taking £135 cash from an assistant. He raided the XtraVision shop at Palmerstown on October 6th and 29th, and robbed the same assistant of £74 and £97 in cash.
