Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley has filed a counter-suit in the Los Angeles courts against the woman who says he raped her.
Mr Flatley is suing Chicago-based estate agent, Ms Tyna Marie Robertson, for civil extortion, defamation and a number of other offences.
The Irish-American dancer's lawyer, Mr Bert Fields, said the FBI was also investigating Ms Robertson for criminal extortion.
Ms Robertson is suing Mr Flatley for €32 million, claiming he raped her in his suite in the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas, last October. Mr Flatley denies the charge and maintains he and Ms Robertson had consensual sexual intercourse following a dinner date.
Ms Robertson did not make any accusation of rape against his client until January, Mr Fields said, when she began to demand money from Mr Flatley. She threatened to go to the police if she was not paid, Mr Fields alleges.
However, Mr Flatley refused to give her anything and contacted the FBI.
"She will not get one cent from my client. She has never got any money and never will," Mr Fields said, adding that Mr Flatley's personal secretary had been in the adjoining room, with the door open, while the couple had sex and there had been no indication a rape was taking place.
Mr Flatley was "completely innocent", Mr Fields said, and had told his fiancée about his infidelity as soon as Ms Robertson began demanding money.
The 44-year-old Chicago-born dancer has been instructed by his solicitor not to speak to the media, and remained on his €3 million estate in Fermoy, Co Cork, yesterday.
He is expected to fly to London today for business engagements.
