Cardiff - The flu epidemic which has struck down tens of thousands of people may have come from outer space, according to British scientists.

Researchers at the University of Wales, Cardiff, are challenging the view that the outbreak was caused by the bug being passed from person to person at home or in the workplace. Instead the scientists blame the epidemic on high-energy sunspots which brought cosmic dust into the earth's atmosphere.
