London - Mr David Astor, editor of the Observer from 1948 to 1975, has died at the age of 89 years.

London - Mr David Astor, editor of the Observer from 1948 to 1975, has died at the age of 89 years.

He is considered one of the most influential British newspaper editors of the 20th century, and had championed anti-colonial movements in Africa. He was also involved for many years in the British-Irish Association.
