THE FORMER foreign policy adviser to US presidential candidate Barack Obama was married yesterday at a small church on the Ring of Kerry near Waterville.
The wind blew and the rain poured on to the dramatically perched Mary Immaculate Church, decked with flowers and overlooking the sea at Loher, for Samantha Power and law professor Cass Sunstein (54). The couple met while working on the Obama campaign in January.
Ms Power’s aunt, Dr Patricia Gibson, and her husband, Dr Derry Gibson, are local GPs in south Kerry.
Ms Power, a former journalist, resigned from the Obama campaign in March after calling Senator Hillary Clinton, Mr Obama’s rival for the Democratic nomination, “a monster” in an interview with a newspaper journalist.
However, it is expected that should Mr Obama win, she will return to his advice team.
