Four men were arrested for public order offences following a disturbance at a halting site off the M1 roundabout at Santry in Dublin today.

Gardaí entered the site off Oscar Traynor Road to seize a vehicle shortly after 10.30am.

A garda spokesman said the owner of the vehicle protested and a dispute arose when a group of people surrounded gardaí and tried to stop them from moving the vehicle.

A number of other garda units were called in as backup and four men were arrested for public order offences and taken to Ballymun and Santry Garda stations

The disturbance ended at around 11.30am and no one was injured in the incident.
