Four held over Cork weapons

Gardaí have arrested four men in Co Cork after a weapon was recovered during a search of a car last night.

The men, who are aged between 18 and 26, were travelling in a car that was stopped shortly after 8.30pm at Cloonlough, Mitchelstown.

Gardaí from Mitchelstown searched the vehicle and found a firearm, two baseball bats and a number of balaclavas.

The men are being held at Midleton and Fermoy Garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
