Mexico City - Children under the age of 14 are working on the ranch of Mexican President-elect Vicente Fox, sowing onions and potatoes in contravention of laws banning child labour, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
The daily Reforma said that on Saturday it found at least 30 minors and teenagers being trucked into the Fox family ranch, San Cristobal, in the central agricultural state of Guanajuato, to work for about 65 pesos (about $7) a day. The Mexican Constitution bans children under 14 from working.
