Injured Olympic champion Cathy Freeman has been set a tough challenge to run for Australia in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in July.

Australian athletics selectors today named her in the relay squad but left open a spot for the Olympic 400 metre champion in the 400m and 200m if she provides exceptional performances before June 5th.

Freeman missed the national championships in Brisbane last week because of a thigh injury and has not met qualifying standards for the 400m.

But she could later be nominated for individual events after being included in the 4x400m relay squad.
