MONTANA - Prosecutors prepared to press criminal charges yesterday against members of the anti government Freemen group after the dramatic, bloodless end of the longest federal siege in modern US history.

Some of the 16 Freemen who surrendered peacefully after holding out for 81 days on a ranch surrounded by about 100 FBI agents could be arraigned on federal charges in Billings, where they arrived late on Thursday for booking at Yellowstone County Jail. Two women, wives of the Freemen leaders, faced no charges and were released.
